Normally it’s the dodgy email address that gives the game away. This one is cleverer, as it gives seemingly authentic ones, followed by a Japanese one.

yes on both counts ....thanks....very plausible for those with less savvy....also more likely to be done via GP and text ....

what I was going to do was....send to Hotmail pashing scams....telephone surgery (and use that as an excuse to ask where I am in queue ....post on surgeries Facebook page.....Did you mean something else as well??

That's the link I always use. Forward it, copying in the headers to the top of the email. noreply@nhs.gov.uk could fool anyone at first sight.

Made a mistake: I forward the email, with the headers copied, to report@phishing.gov.uk not via the website.

These phishers have got cleverer recently. I haven't received any fake NHS missals, but last week I received an email, ostensibly from a good friend, starting with "Hi", followed by my Christian name, then, further down a link, and below that "Love, from Ricky" - my good friend's name. The email address was slightly different from the one in my address book, but maybe Ricky had changed it - it was his usual online name? People do - but don't always say. From previous experience one would think I had learned my lesson, but I fell for it. Fortunately, clicking on the link only came up with a message saying in effect that the URL was not valid, but I still freaked out when my friend told me he had not sent me any messages.

Luckliy it seems this has not resulted in any virus being installed into my computer, or hacker drilling into my bank accounts - presumably the firewall being strong enough to have blocked anything.

I suspect you are using web mail - this hides many of the danger signs of mal-mail - the use of HTML within email is IMO a significant factor in allowing such mal-mail to be so effective
