I think you’re right . Can’t ever see Jeff Bezos going to the expense of ringing a customer....

Over the past 3 months or so I've had a fair number of 'Amazon' calls from a selection of numbers, all recorded messages and obviously up to no good.

I just received a Steely Dan album that I didn't order so I haven't opened it, it's going straight back - Could be a very big scam.

They probably won’t do it again!

Yes a royal scam....there's some sort of pretzel logic that tells one that you can't buy a thrill like this....But,remember Bert don't loose that number....

Doesn't make any difference as the automated systems just ring numbers randomly as I understand it. I've used the company I think 3 times in total, the most recent probably more than 4 years ago, and they never have never had my landline number which is the one being targeted. No messages to the mobile number they did have which could be simply good luck, a result of not having a voicemail facility combined with the phone being off 99% of the time, or observing time limits on keeping personal data.

If you have a BT line they have a free call blocking service. Whenever I get one of these calls I now hang up immediately and then block the number.

Except that scammers duck and dodge and change numbers possibly faster than a blocker can block?

I never answer a telephone call from a number I don't recognise. I then do an internet search on the number and they are nearly always reported as scams.

As usual, the number of e-mail scams shot up in the weeks before Christmas (mostly offers to 'test and buy' a product). It's a lot quieter now but still getting the occasional bitcoin offer. They are easy to spot and easier to delete.
