no - just one rich banker paying off an old mate - since the banking/finance market has the morals of a pack of hyenas I expect real problems for the Beeb but maybe our current demagogues with their love of American attitudes might be having second thoughts before they destroy more of the social glue that keeps the various groups occupying these isles together

The Times has a profile of him with the heading: Tory donor with a love of culture.
We can perhaps hope that he will bring some to the Beeb.
Sadly, he studied PPE at Oxford (a subject that in my opinion should be banned for the harm it does to society!).

Sharp was also, whilst at Goldman Sachs, the person who backed Philip Greene financially in his (or probably, of course, his wife's bid) to take over M & Spencer, in 2004.
OTOH a board colleague at G Sachs told the Guardian that he is more conservative than Conservative and will interested in protecting the worth of the BBC than partisan and concerned to deliver Johnson's wish list .

Richard Sharp apparently involved currently or formerly with https://musicmasters.org.uk/ and the Royal Academy of Arts which are entries for the 'pro' column.
