    Gerry Marsden 1942 - 2021

Gerry & the Pacemakers along with the Beatles and a host of other groups were the ones that sparked my interest in pop music in the early 60s. Nothing sophisticated but great songs to sing along to, and Gerry also he wrote some good ones, ‘Don’t let the sun catch you crying’ and ‘Ferry cross the Mersey’ in particular. RIP Gerry.

Another icon of my 1960s childhood gone. There can't be many more of them left now.

Saw him once at the stage door of a London theatre as I was walking by.

He epitomised the optimism that so many of us felt in the 1960s.
        RIP

Sad news. Always seemed like a right decent guy, Gerry.

If only it could....! But by the next home game, it could and (probably should) be lockdown...
