I seem to be the only person ever to challenge this which makes me feel very petty


I thought of starting a discussion about what different people aim to do in this game - i.e. what their personal 'rules' are. I know I have mine but I'm equally sure others have different Aims of the Game.

So the last one was Bryn's Rossini: La gazza ladra

My own personal "rules of the game" go more or less as follows, though INPO:
* Avoid mentioning standard repertoire selections
* Try to post works by contemporary composers
* Try to mention composers under-represented by demographic, which most of the time works out to be female composers
* Do not post a work that I have posted before
* Do not post a work that anyone else has already mentioned

Of course, I've not always been able to observe these self-guidelines strictly. In looking through posts in past Association threads, I've seen that I've mentioned a work, even a relatively obscure one, once already.

If I attempted to follow rules like those, I would end up offering precious few contributions, especially spontaneous ones, which I find are the most enjoyable.
