It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

Is that just like word association - or the musical equivalent - or is there a clear connection?

I still think this is a bit like Mornington Crescent, and some people may be playing their jokers, or variants of the rules.

Sorry - I should have included msg 263 in my 264, but I think it was clear enough.

Actually, I don't think there was ever much in the way of rules on what constitutes sufficient connection. We can of course ask for an explanation, and this shouldn't be completely opaque/ personal (like 'I heard them in the same concert in the Wombatton Chbr Mus Soc season 1951-52.'). Or to put it another way, some of us, even if only a tiny minority, should be able to work it out.
I keep hitting the Escape key, but I'm still here!

Some are a bit lateral but there should be an 'orrible penalty for a false challenge, or a bumper prize for a correct one (and penalty for the Mornington Crescent).

Sorry, is that back to #267 or has it been superseded?
