I too couldn’t get no satisfaction on that point

Asleep by a curse in the dark, only love can rescue ....
The Stones lyric is about darkness generally, mainly internalised, depression and lovelessness, and "door" features in the first line too.....hardly less far-flung than some other associations here.......sorry I forgot the classical only rule....

Hardly more far-flung? On second thoughts, perhaps you're right, or I've missed some subtlety or other ... and dere was me, tinking I understood the rules of this game, so I was, to be sure - or perhaps I'm just suffering from internalised darkness .....)
If it's decent lyrics you want, try The Beatles!

Apparently Fra Diavolo was a well-known guerilla called Michele Pezza.
