I just now received the sad news from Daryl Runswick via email.
Alison had been suffering from Alzheimers for a number of years. I knew her from my acquaintanceship with Daryl through mainly jazz connections, though Daryl has more and more been associated with contemporary music for the past 30 years, and he has written works for Alison to perform. They were married. Alison had a striking and warm personality, besides an exceptionally powerful voice, and will be greatly missed by their circle of friends. For those not very knowledgeable of the classical scene, I found two links, one to Thornham College from earlier this year, (scroll down the page), the other a recording of Verdi's La Forza del Destino.
