Cultural Recovery Fund: CBSO & Symphony Hall

You should have read two weeks ago that the CBSO was awarded £843,000 from the ACE Culture Recovery Fund.
Yesterday Symphony Hall/Town Hall was awarded £2.53million and is already fully prepared for opening its doors.

It's wonderful news that after having their Centenary arrangements wrecked and over 20 overseas concerts cancelled, the CBSO will begin to present weekly socially-distanced orchestral concerts at Symphony Hall - Mirga will conduct shortened matinee and evening concerts on 4 & 10 November, the latter with Sheku K-M.

Well it’s great that at least some sort of a return to live music with audiences is in prospect.

Edit: looks as if the first concerts are sold out?

The fact that this is happening and that many elite outdoor sports events can’t have spectators in what could be perfectly safe situations just highlights how much nonsense is going on.

I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered. My life is my own.

I am not a number, I am a free man.

There is a great deal of inconsistency which does absolutely nothing to encourage compliance - regardless of whether one considers that to be a good thing or not.
Meanwhile a family member is trying to come to terms with a shutdown of musical activity in Holland, after having had the sort of 'freedom' during the summer and early autumn musicians in this country could only have dreamed of.
