An email received this morning advised of the level of charity donations by Amazon.co.uk, made as a result of 'signing up' to their "Smile" option (£82,597.63 in the last quartet in the case of Cancer Research UK which i opted for). It does, I suppose, offer some amelioration of their tax avoidance stance. If resorting to ordering direct from amazon.co.uk, do please use Amazon Smile.

For some reason I must have signed up to a different option, as I have just received this:
This is your quarterly AmazonSmile donation notification. Your chosen charity, Daisy Appeal, recently received a quarterly donation of £1,656.90 from AmazonSmile, thanks to customers shopping at smile.amazon.co.uk or with AmazonSmile turned ON in the app.
I confess too to not having remembered, and am not sure if you have to click on a link each time or once you're registered every purchase counts; I'll have to check next time I order something. Not sure either if it's just Amazon or if it covers Marketplace sellers too.

Maybe that will pay a few years of Charity CEO’s fat salaries, which we don’t always take into account when donating hard earned cash or taking part in fund raising acivities!
