Apparently it's a Dutch-American start-up specialising in classical music. I'd never heard of it until I saw it in today's Observer. It claims to have a search engine designed for classical music and a vast library of 3.5 million tracks at a cost of £9.99 for MP3 320kbps or Hi.Res lossless 24bit FLAC at £14.99 per month with a 14 day free trial period. Sounds promising.
Primephonic anyone?

Even eMusic is starting to look reasonable now. Policies seem to have changed on that site, and there is some interesting material available. N all the performances are dreadful. There’s some Feldman - for those who like that sort of thing - typically 42p.
Also Napster may still have some good material. I think I may even still have a subscription.

It's search engine does what they claim at least so far and any BAL reviewer will find it useful because it lists all their available recordings and you can easily switch from one to the other eg looking for a recording of the Bach f major toccata and fugue, they list 93(!) although some are duplicate performances - don't ever try Virgil Fox in this piece though.
I think the higher quality costs £149.99pa or 12 months for the price of 10.

I also had a free month trial, about 6 months ago. While there were a few pieces on there of interest, I decided that even though the sound quality was better, compared to Spotify, the range of music available was not worth my paying for it. They still keep sending me emails so I suppose if the range was to improve, it might be worth looking at in the future.Best regards,
Jonathan
