My first thought was that your cookie might have crumbled but then I checked and my password was rejected. This might give a clue, however: https://www.bbc.co.uk/usingthebbc/ac...elp-signing-in . Why they should effectively require re-registration every 2 years is a mystery.

As I have pointed out several times in the past the BBC has become a commercial company - that means your personal details are valuable to them + to the others they will share your details with (eg the Gov - you didn't just think it was the Chinese who could coerce nominally independent companies did you) - now Orwell's continuing monitoring of what you view or listen to is possible - in the past libraries refused to divulge who had borrowed what book but now we have continuous surveillance.

that is no explanation - it explains that they need it to 'sell' things to us but if we don't want or need such 'sales' why then is it necessary - I'm old enough (+ fed up enough with BBC adverts) to know what I want. Typical marketing bullsh*t.
