This lockdown period - which is still going on where I live - has presented some new opportunities, while of course at the same time also creating significant problems for many people.
We have discovered some interesting services and new ways of interacting.
Most of us in these boards have perhaps discovered streaming services, for example Glyndebourne, Royal Opera, Berlin PO, RSNO, the MET, Chichester theatre etc., which have been put on to try to maintain an audience. Some of us have also discoved Zoom, Skype, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, Whatsapp etc.
A couple that others may not have discovered are:
The Frick Collection - Cocktails with a Curator. This is a very good series, and I know of people who have spent a considerable amount by buying in alcohol to make the cocktails.
Denman College - lectures and courses. These are mostly Zoom based sessions at specific times, and include cooking, history etc. Initially these were provided I thnk free via Facebook, but then there was realisation that there was a lot of interest, so they are provided mostly for £5 a session. It seems that the college has discovered a new market, as now some of the sessions have over 200 participants, which is far more than would have been possible for face to face meetings which might have been charged at prices between £10 and £50, for example. I hope that some of those sessions will continue after lockdown has been completely abandoned everywhere in the UK.
So, have you discovered any new things or services you didn't know of before, or indeed, have you started such a service or new activity?
