You may be under a misapprehension. Your 'memorable lyrics' post was officially complained of but NOT by the person you seem to be referring to as the "chief protagonist" who 'curtailed your freedom of speech'. His/her complaint seems to have been voiced openly on the forum and might be taken as another example of the freedom of speech which you defend as your right.

I have no 'executive powers' or responsibility for the content of the forum any longer, but I do feel that the egocentrism, sense of 'entitlement' and lack of consideration - which we witness in the outside world at this moment of acute danger - do destroy the possibility of a happy community which it has always been our aim to provide here.
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

IMHO, for boards like this to function adequately, which seems to be the highest level that most forums can aspire to, a degree of self - censorship is required from time to time.
Those who spend their time and effort moderating and administering are not necessarily blessed with the wisdom of Solomon, and sometimes posts that are significant to the author get deleted. And sometimes threads take a turn that the OP didn't anticipate.
        So it goes.

My blood pressure is labile (at the best of times) so this feature may indeed have its uses.
I assume too that the 'ignore' list can subsequently be edited and Member M taken off it after a cooling-off period if one's BP calms down!

I'm feeling the benefits already - a case, perhaps, of HI (Happy Ignorer) spirits?

....it's so lovely to have the family round for dinner and to trash things out....some even stay for a supper snack....some of course with their chairs turned to the wall, and lamp-shade on their heads....

This reminds me of the Great Panjandum puzzle. There's a village in the middle of nowhere, which is occupied by logicians. They're all very good at logic. There's a certain degree of swinging going on between husbands and wives, which is surprising, as if any husband finds out that his wife has been "playing away" he has to kill her and put her body outside their hut for the next morning ready for burial. This raises a question of how this can even be a stable situation, but the rationale is that many people know that other people are "having fun", but men don't know about their own wives. There must be a form of etiquette, which prohibits the men from discussing this, or at least telling someone else that their wife is having an affair, and the wives aren't going to admit it, as turkeys don't vote for Christmas.

One day an old man with a walking stick - let's call him the Great Panjandrum - walks into the village, and maybe spends a day or two there. When he leaves he makes the following announcement "Thank you for your hospitality. Sadly, I have to inform you that there is an unfaithful wife in this village." With that he wanders off back into the forests or deserts where he came from.

We are given extra powers, and actually know that 40 wives are unfaithful.

The question is - what happens after that?

That's right. On one or two occasions I've seen a post that says "member M is on your ignore list" and asked myself why actually I'm ignoring that person, and I don't remember, so they come off the list again. Almost like real life!

It's up to each of us, of course, but I've never been faced with that as I have put no one on an ignore list as I can see no obvious point in so doing.

One solution would of course be to kill them all in order to ensure that the guilty party received her just dessert. Another solution would be to ignore the situation, killing none of them in order to ensure that there was no miscarriage of justice. Life could then return to normal. A third solution would be to seek out the Great Panjandrum and kill him for causing an upset. It would depend whether the village was Conservative, Labour or Liberal.
