    Amazon reviews

I sometimes write Amazon reviews. Sometimes I can't remember whether I've written a review before. I think there used to be a way of filtering the reviews to find one's own previous reviews, but maybe that doesn't work any more. Is there a way to check? I'm not even sure that looking at one's own order indicates whether a review has been written previously, or not.

Also, sometimes it's hard to write a sensible review because of the way Amazon may group similar products together. For example, Brand X models A and B may be good, and deserve a 4 or 5 star review, but then Amazon goes and puts Brand X model C on the same web page, and model C is in fact a rather different and considerably poorer object only deserving a 1-3 star review. Sometimes I write new wording to indicate that, but it is not at all helpful. One item may be a 5 star item, another a 1 star. Should one go down the middle and give 3 stars?

One finds that other reviewers also have similar issues, as when reading the reviews it is quite obvious that often they do not refer to the specific item of interest at all.

At least you take the time to write honest reviews. There are so many questionable reviews that I have taken to using fakespot.com. It evaluates the authenticity of the reviews.

There are some products on Amazon where the seller offers an Amazon voucher if you write a favourable review.

I tend to leave reviews when displeased with some aspect of a purchase as a warning to others, as I much appreciate others flagging up issues. I confess to once having left a review after the seller offered me a free repeat product (Vitamin capsules) if I reviewed my purchase. They didn't stipulate it had to be favourable - but I had no issues anyway and got a free 2nd supply of something I would have repurchased anyway!

What annoys me is people on Amazon giving a 5-star "review" that goes along the lines of: "Have not yet had time to use the product but it arrived very quickly" or a 1-star "review" that says "Product arrived in broken packaging" - which is likely the fault of the courier firm.
The Your Public Profile link is not showing up for me. Is it user or browser or OS dependent?

I agree about the other ways that these reviews are being "misused" - such as a seller offering discounts, or even threatening something if a good review isn't forthcoming.

Thanks. It is well hidden - I'm not sure that it was always thus.
