    Schools and social distancing

    Just heard the PMs statement.

How the HELL do you organise schools to observe 'social distancing'?
And of course, as every teacher knows, kids DO carry, even if they do not have in themselves, mighty symptoms of, what ever gruel of infections is swilling round.

Every September / October, watch TEACHERS getting coughs and colds etc when the kids don't or have just a tiny sniffle.

    The mind boggles.

YES, yes, yes, I am very concerned about education - I can't stress that enough - but surely implicit in what the PM was saying seems...well,. to me, at the very least debatable or barely logic based on real experience!

Do these things apply to ALL schools ?
Or just the ones for poor people that the likes of BJ doesn't send his many children to ?

NO!! It applies to ALL schools, state and private - and actually boarding schools even more affected.
I just sat and listened and was aghast for the teachers, the admin, the locals living with and around such schools, shops the kids will flock into at breaks / lunchtimes - all of whom could be at risk.
Am seriously troubled. I want education to develop and grow, but.........start the schools off in JUNE?????????? Indefensible IMO

Germany has seen significant rise in R since reduction of lockdown arrangements. As Keir Starmer and MANY others have said, we need to watch the examples of other similar countries to ourselves very closely. In Europe etc.............Germany is a real example.

At the University Level, a family member is tasked with trying to expand Boston University dormitory capacity so that each incoming student can be guaranteed a private room

I'm not quite sure what you are referring to here. Kipling spent years with his sister "Trix" with people he did not like, but how is that relevant to BJ?

                  (Wiki version)

John Kipling (17 August 1897 – 27 September 1915) was the only son of British author Rudyard Kipling. In the First World War his father used his influence to get him an army commission, despite his having been decisively rejected for poor eyesight. His death at the Battle of Loos caused his father immense grief.

It was only when his own child was killed that he started to question the accepted version of events.

So come on Boris, send YOUR children to school first......... (otherwise known as doing a "Gummer Burger")

There has been mention of temporary traffic controls on roads around schools to facilitate safe physical distancing, which could make life interesting.

The proposal to reopen further, without effective contact tracing, PPE and cases at a much, much lower level, are nonsense.

Are school staff expected to go into half full schools, but then not be able to socialise with their own family members?
I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered. My life is my own.

I think school staff are expendable in the important "fight"

Presumably the same situation as other "essential workers". I imagine that health workers who are in the most danger of spreading the virus are given proper advice. In my experience (I work for Royal Mail, a nephew works as a baker for a supermarket) no advice is given

Incidentally, staff at Royal Mail who are under retirement age but have non shield-able (haven't got "the letter") underlying health issues are not being paid if they stay at home. Unpaid leave is available. This despite being a heavily unionised company. This is because the Gov't only "strongly advise" this group to stay home
