The various media reports are all based on the statement from his agent which opened as I quoted. The Guardian and Independent both offer fuller quotes for that agent. Again, the word used by his agent was "from", not "with". All the reports I have seen make the point that he contracted COVID-19, the disease caused by the SARS-Cov-2 virus.
