    Streaming theatre at home

The National Theatre is going to stream recordings of performances on Thursdays from now on https://www.londontheatre.co.uk/thea...eek-on-youtube This week it'll be One Man Two Guvnors - which we saw years ago, but which we'll watch again virtually this week, with a planned interval with friends via some online platform (may be WhatsApp, Skype or Zoom).

There are other theatres offering similar presentations. Perhaps we can generate a list of links here.

Yet more to watch - and listen to. Friday's RSNO concert is perhaps also something else to look out for, though I can't find what's coming up this week. I think someone did tell me, but it's not easy to find - https://www.societyaberdeen.co.uk/un...-fans-at-home/

Good idea to put the heads-up here. (It's already been mentioned under R3 Arts). One Man Two Govenors is terrific, with a virtuoso performance from James Corden.

We were amazed at the "gent" who kept falling down the stairs - he was amazing too. Sadlly now gone.

According to this https://www.timeout.com/london/news/...y-night-032620 the NT production One Man Two Guvnors starts at 7pm tonight - but it can be watched any time for about a week.

            Hope that helps.

This site lists some of the paid for and free sites currently offering theatre shows - https://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/what...stream-4006717

Even the paid for sites may still be very good value.

Such riches - I shall have to postpone or at least amend my planned Jeremy Brett Sherlock Holmes DVD 'binge'!

Just watched...as funny as the first time. It's farce really and heavily dependent on James Corden...who had my g-kids in stitches.

I wonder how many people didn't realize that the lady who came on stage and suffered such indignities was a member of the cast? There were a number of calls from concerned patrons after the recent production (which compared very well with the NT production) at our local theatre.
This is a play which contains some interesting twists on generally accepted theatrical conventions and performance practice. I think Brecht might have approved.

Well, I was concerned too - and not in a good way, I'm afraid.

Wasn't sure how well it wouldn't go down at home, but plenty of one liners and slapstick so I needn't have worried. Skillfully adapted from the Carlo Goldoni 'Servant of Two Masters' (Il servitore di due padroni), 1746.
And the tune ends too soon for us all
