    The time has come ....

    The time has come, [**]
    the Walrus said,
    To talk of many things:
    Of shoes — and ships — and sealing-wax —
Of cabbages — and kings —
And why the sea is boiling hot —
    And whether pigs have wings.
and whether the lawn mower will still go.

In our case a robotic mower, stored over winter. [***]
Not sure if the batteries have held out, or whether it has remembered any of the codes put in last year. I think the wiring's still OK though - the green light seems to be on, so hopefully it's charging up on its base station.

I think the petrol mower, now used only as a reserve, is going to need attention and maybe a service, but that's unlikely to happen for quite a while given the current state of things.

It would have to be a very clever. robot to cope with our..er...grassy bits. The petrol mower started first pull to my astonishment. It’s 10 years old and I’ve never paid to have it serviced. I change the oil, clean the air filter and last year treated it to a new spark plug. When it finally gives up the ghost I’ll chuck it and buy a new one possibly gloating at all the servicing I haven’t paid for.

Trial run worked! I even remembered the PIN code. The petrol mower has been a bit of a disaster, with a spark plug which seems to have welded itself in place a few years ago. I can't shift it, even with loads of brute force and a lot of ignorance. If it doesn't start, there's no way I'm going to be able to fix it, so it would have to go in for some attention in a mower centre. Not sure if even a workshop could fix it, though I suppose one way might be to get it started (how?) then run it for a while, and then try to get the park plug out for a clean and adjustment. Sometimes using new petrol, plus some gas stuff squirted in the air filter does get these things going - otherwise it may be a gonner.
