Originally posted by LMcD View PostOur local medical centre now allows over-75s to order their medication by phone and will deliver it. This is good news for my better half: I've been using a supremely efficient online pharmacy (Pharmacy2U) for months.
I thought it might have been initiated by the pharmacy. Turns out to be completely useless, as it doesn't even recognise my GP's practice, so I can't get registered, and linked into either the GP's surgery or the pharmacy. That's really not clever. I suspect it's because I no longer live in England, but AFAIK Scotland is still part of the UK.
Services like that should come with a health warning!
I thought that Lloyds Pharmacy would have helped with issues like this, by now. I wonder if Boots would be any better.

I live in a village near Falkirk but there are 3 pharmacies local to me which all deliver, one being Lloyds. Boots do it too. You just have to register so far as I know. I used to do it online but they do it automatically now. They pick up the script from the GP every Tuesday. I have several different drugs so they put them in a blister pack, split into days. Just ask at your surgery. Good luck.

Now trying various other options. One was recently pointed out to me - Pharmacy2u - but unfortunately I managed to waste about 5-10 minutes trying to register with that service, until I encountered a message that the service was only available for GP patients in England. That information could have been right up front. It would be useful if appropriate information were made available, and whether organisations/firms are going to operate in a region, in England, or another part of the UK (Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland) or the whole of the UK. Normally this would not be too much of a problem, but now it is important that time and resources are not wasted by what ever information is available being found by search engines which could provide much more useful and targetted help. Some parts of the UK may always be difficult, such as some of the islands off the coasts of the mainland UK.

Some shops are taking on new customers for delivery, if they are one of the 1.4 million with the "shielded" letter. My cousin was having trouble getting deliveries from Asda, two week wait and half missing. She has now been promised a weekly delivery from Tesco, with no delivery charge, potentially until the end of September if the shielding is extended. I think she was contacted through the NHS. She does get prescriptions delivered in a "blister pack" every week or two.
PS
My cousin registered with this page and was later contacted about food deliveries

Last Wednesday I ordered a set of replacement cushions for my ancient Sennheiser HD 545 reference headphones, having given them new, finally consistent, performance by replacing the original connection cable with a bargain one. I just checked the estimated delivery window, "Thu, 30 Apr - Fri, 19 Jun".
