    Report in today's i:
GB News to make staff redundant. According to one staff member, there was "a real 'last days of Saigon' vibe in the office."

I'd rather they ditched the "names" that are given free rein to voice their unbalanced and uninformed opinions. The staff may be facilitators but these days the need to have a job doesn't always tally with agreement with the aims of the organisation.

I certainly consider this to be Good News:

Post Office scandal: Police to deploy 80 detectives for criminal inquiry

          From the Guardian just now:

Exclusive: Investigation will dig into potential perjury offences and perverting the course of justice by senior leaders and Fujitsu

Given the depletion of police forces by various causes I'm surprised they can find that many to deploy.

They managed to find quite a few recently to investigate a case of not paying capital gains tax (outcome awaited)!

After yesterday's Lunchtime Concert, Miss/Ms Alker announced that 'tomorrow's Classics Live will include a performance of Dvorak's 8th Symphony IN FULL' (Her emphasis, not mine).

And it's probably the shortest of his nine symphonies anyway. I'm reminded of Leonard Sachs and his rhetorical announcements in 'The Good Old Days' : 'The entire orchestra...'

And it has a time attached to it in the schedule - does this mean a return to the '3pm slot' I wonder - a major(aka long in modern parlance...) item at a fixed point in the afternoon soup.

Since reading LMcD's post yesterday, this phrase has been resonating in my mind: it says so much about current broadcasting values.

You're absolutely right! There are plenty of what appear to be complete episodes on YouTube.

…and some on a Freeview channel some months ago.

“If I go to a concert hall to have a jolly spree

There's someone in the party who is sure to shout at me”

A big 'thank you' to whoever at 'Sunday Morning' decided that today's bleeding chunk of Mahler would the slow movement from the 6th Symphony and not the Adagietto from the 5th!
