That might be because they're being offered £200 an hour to work in A&E!

People have widely been complaining of difficulties in getting to see GPs for many months, reporting restrictions and malfunctions in booking arrangements. I just walked into the practice on my way back from the local shops a few minutes ago, and not even in any expectation of being seen to, more likely fobbed off, given the circumstances and that.
I had bad shoulder pain a few months ago - never got to see a doctor. it was however accurately diagnosed over the phone by the practice physio without a physical exam which rather amazed me. It turned out to be a squeezed nerve in the back probably bought about by too much cycling.

        Good to hear.

I have a suspicion that the strikes are designed to be as visible as possible ( ie in a few locations with TV cameras nearby) whilst in fact causing relatively minor disruption to all concerned including the doctors.
But it is just a suspicion.

(At the risk of diverting the thread too far)
Or perhaps they are not visible enough...

As I say, just a suspicion. And of course it might be seen as a good thing to maximise publicity and minimise disruption.

Firstly, without explanation of any kind, I am now once again able to access What's New? - having for several weeks been forced to go through a rigmarole of clicking the Forum button and then each of the sub-forums that might hold something of latest interest.

Secondly, finding myself in marginally less pain and discomfort than over the past week, having applied one of the Deep Heat patches to my left shoulder that I acquired a fortnight ago. Not that the problem, now some 6 weeks in the making, has by any means gone away - I am still needing to take a couple of Paracetamols every 4 hours and trying at all costs to avoid sneezing.

Well, let's hope the pain continues to wane. If it's sunny where you are try sitting outside; you might hear a blackbird, see a squirrel and feel better.

To my surprise my ISP refunded a £180 charge for an unnecessary engineer callout, after I complained to the CEO by letter.

Battle royal with Thames Water won today – after nearly a year. They finally admitted overcharging me by £462 pounds and agreed a refund plus £150 for “stress and inconvenience caused”. Never give up!

Thanks! Unfortunately it returned with a vengeance after lunch, and the same is happening right now - for some reason the painkillers + Deep Heat patches or cream don't seem to work from midday on, although I did, as it happens, experience relief when sunbathing in the garden a few weeks ago when it was just about warm enough to do so, which seemed to corroborate the "heat treatment" effect in a different way!

If and until this gets sorted the lesson has to be doing anything strenuous, such as spring cleaning, has to take place during mornings.

It's possible the worsening during the afternoon is the result of use during the morning. Even if you are not actually doing anything specific, just the weight of your arm will be making itself felt as far as the shoulder is concerned.

As a loyal Nationwide customer, I'm one of those who'll be receiving a £100 boost in my Flex account next month.

No room on the shelves for a big new box set, but if there were, what gets the vote at present?
I'm sure ts will have some suggestions.
(There's probably a thread more suited to this: Bargains, maybe?)
