    Probably Dunroamin for a while - certainly would have been had they been quarantined!

        I've only recently discovered that the Dunedin Consort are not based in, and were not established in, New Zealand ....or Dundee and Edinburgh.

          Looking at their website to find the origin of the name (I didn't), I came across this:

          If Dunedin were a drink, it would be a smokey Islay whiskey;
          The Spice Girls would be a carton of concentrated orange juice.

          Note the spelling mistake...

          ... shocking!

            Maybe they were just overstating its quality?

              Apparently their name comes from 'Din Eidyn', the ancient Celtic name for Edinburgh Castle.

                Certainly has more of a ring to it than the Edinburgh Castle Consort!

                  Didn't they use to entertain passengers on their way from Cape Town to Southampton in the late 1940s?

                    Quite possibly. I travelled as a bairn on one or more of the Castle Line vessels back in the day - can't say I remember the Consort though!

                      Didn't they feature a young Vaal Doonican in the early 60s?

                        Cambridge boffins develop biodegradable plastic substitute from peas!

                        Rarely nowadays do good news items come up with the promise of this one, briefly mentioned on today's BBC national lunchtime news: a fast-degrading substitute for ocean-polluting microplastics, potentially applicable widely for commercial packaging and other purposes, and which can be harmlessly (maybe even beneficially) consumed by marine life:

                        Rejoice? I nearly choked on my marmite sandwich!

                                Difficult to know where best to post this - it is something of a joke but overall good news seems the main message - other than 'does what it says on the tine' given the title of the sculpture.
