It would be regrettable if the thread became one of those that "formerly existed". I noted the posts questioning the existence of the discussion but conversation had moved on and there was no reference I saw that the contributions would lead to removal.

There are threads here I never look at. If I didn't want to view a political thread, I wouldn't go there - but I fail to see why a civil discussion (even though it might become one of challenge and firm expression) cannot be held on political issues here amongst those who do want to express their views. Or that it could become disallowed because some feel they are not comfortable it is being held. In the case of the said individual, he is in government - and famously is not a member of a political party. We are talking about the government to whom we are subject for the next 5 years.

Yourself and Fhg would have (I believe) have politely given some notice....some direction....That thread did not contain any, ANY of nasty ad hominen tripe that used to go on with certain forumites....in fact quiet and sedate up to stuff that used to go on in the Choir threads....very dissappointed ref handling....and you know I am supportive of the forum exec....hmmmmmm and 3 Hosts posting there....

Sorry, eighth, I'm not sure what the problem is. It's not in the dungeon. It's in Ideas and Theory on the open forum (not sure where it was before), perfectly visible, can be replied to and appears on the What's New list. That's where the other thread on Western Politics is.

When I replied to it[1717hr], it did not appear at the top of the main forum page....I looked several/manytimes, it wasn't on the main page 1 hr ago....it is there now....thanks ff....I may be weird but I am not mad....

What was interesting was the only 'within thread' complaint was against my comment that I blamed Len McCluskey + his union backers for facilitating the rise of two successive unelectable leaders of the labour party which for various reasons gave no clear guidance as to likely consequences of leaving etc - supported by a couple of other members who judging from their post count participated in few debates tho may well have been avid readers.

But as the latest shenanigans show the present setup appears to show that we have the equivalent of bright sixth-formers who seeing some recent (and by them only partly understood) science think they have the answer to many long standing problems.

I too saw that it had disappeared from the current page and thought it might have been removed. A bit of searching revealed that it still existed, but as 8thO mentions the timing of posts seemed out of step with other threads. I do find on this forum that it can be difficult to find missing threads; with so many sub-sections guessing where something may reside isn't always easy.
Having established that it still exists I'm going to take the view that glitches occur and may not be the result of active interventions.

One last comment. The sudden reappearance of the 'Western Politics' thread after lying dormant for a year was followed by the move of the D C thread to the same forum (Ideas and Theory), presumably because any subject relating to politics and politicians (elected and unelected) tends to attract the same posters (eighth being prominent on both).

But, eighth, the log says the thread moved at 21.01 and you posted on it yourself at 22.48. If it didn't appear in What's New? that must have been a glitch.

One tip (which has been mentioned before), if you can't see a thread on the What's New? view and you know you've just been posting on it, go to the forum homepage , move across the tabs at the top to Quick Links (New Posts Private Messages FAQ Calendar Community Forum Actions Quick Links) and click on Today's Posts. Scroll down to The threads below have not been updated since your last visit - and it should be there).
