Logger popup was blocked

Within the past few hours every time I search on Google I get a message saying 'Logger popup was blocked'. Apparently it's appearing on Firefox and Safari (and possibly other browsers as well). Google doesn't seem to know what it is either. Some kind of malware perhaps? Anyone else noticed it?

Possibly part of the Google Redirect Virus? The Telegraph tech page last week reported this was rampant and at that time 1 million computers were affected. Seems like a nasty bug to try and disable as it's a rootkit, lots about it on the Web but here is a Google link

Funnily enough the popup blocker has now disappeared (certainly on my Mac, not sure about the PC).
