.. i recall attending an ICI Careers Event for bright grammar school lads seeking a future in science and Mr Wilson's white heat technology .... the day was spent considering all the different ways one could watch paint dry ... depressed but undeterred i then spent a week at the English Steel Foundry in Sheffield on a works course and resolved that i would never never ever be a metallurgist .... these events were most helpful to me in finding a path in life .... i like to watch trees grow ....
