Interesting viewpoint on the place we are about to leave........

The b*x*s may have won two general elections and a referendum and will get their wish at the end of the month, but they will regret it. And I'm sure when we go back begging to come back in, either we'll be told 'no' by the EU or the terms will be so bad we will have been better off staying in, in the first place.

Once Scotland and Northern Ireland leave the UK and rejoin the EU, it is highly likely that Britain (i.e. England and Wales) will sink lower into right-wing populism for a while. Hopefully, that will provide the necessary fillip to re-invigorate those with a social conscience.

I may not have made it sufficiently clear in my initial post, but there seems to be a small full stop after the '31' (presumably because there wasn't enough room to put 'st'), and '31. January' is surely more a European way of writing the date.

... I don't see any 'full stop' after the 31 - as far as I can see it's just the serif at the foot of the 1

I wonder whether the judicious, if illegal, application of a nail punch might offer a solution, cutting and lifting a simulacrum of the needed Oxford comma in the requisite position?

Exactly what we were contemplating during our pre-prandial libation this evening.

But wouldn't that constitute (deliberate) defacing a coin of the realm, and be illegal, as you suggest?
We'd be put in The Tower as unpatriotic Remoaners!

Wales just might go, too; I know that it voted in favour of UK leaving EU then (just) but it seems to have changed its tune somewhat since...

                          Yes, I was thinking that.

Studies show that Wales only 'voted leave' because of the high number of English people with second homes in Wales. The indigenous Welsh voted to remain, according to research. And as you say Wales has changed its tune anyway (like the rest of the UK has, I might add).

And don't laugh, I've heard rumblings and discontent from Cornwall. It's going to be evident, in a short while, that this was the biggest mistake this nation has ever made. It's depressing to think that little can be done about it. As Bryan says, our only hope is that the terrifying right-wing shift in politics that we are experiencing, reinvigorates people of conscience.
