Mine would be Roger of the Raj:

The mother: "The boy says they [some local insurgents] are wanting to establish a worker's state.
The father: "Well, for goodness' sake, give it to them then!"

I wonder whether 'Glorious Gordon' was inspired, or at least suggested, by the Alec Guinness film 'The Card' in which a local businessman persuades a star player to return to play for his old club and save it from closure.
Ian Ogilvy was a magnificent School Bully in 'Tomkinson's Schooldays'.

Really liked Minnie Driver on Terry:
'I was lost, on my way to an audition in 1992. Rather desperately, I stopped a man for directions. He started to explain but then said it would be easier to show me.He walked me there, told some stories, then came in to charm the casting director because I was late. What a kind, beloved genius he was.'

More lovely anecdotes about TJ (and mostly about his Mediaeval History research, and his relationship with "proper" Mediaeval Professors*) on today's Final Word on R4.

(* - briefly, after initial scepticism about a comedian invading their territory, they were utterly charmed by the man himself, and came to be very grateful that his telly documentaries increased University applications to study Mediaeval History by 50%.)

For those with access to Talking Pictures TV, which is free to air I think, Personal Services is on their current rotation. I believe I saw it when it came out. The thought of all that ‘vice’ in sleepy Streatham. But there’s so much more to it. TJ directed. But then, he could do anything. I found Michael Palin’s Facebook posts in recent years recording their friendship and the effect on it of TJ’s illness to be most moving, whilst perfectly pitched to raise awareness about dementia in as wide and inclusive a way as possible. Two of the finest most empathetic communicators of their generation using their talents up to the very end.

Most recently on two nights ago. Unfortunately, not scheduled again within the next three weeks.
