    Sporting composers

I've just noticed that a chap called Elgar is currently building up a big score for the South African cricket team. The only other composer/sportsman that immediately comes to mind is Ronnie Sullivan (but I'm sure there are others .... )

Andrew Strauss ? Huddersfield had a manager called Wagner but I'm not sure what pronunciation he uses ( he is German )

There was an English rugby player called Joseph Green.

Better still, there was another called William Walton

Two spring to mind from the football world. In the 60s West Ham had a player called Ronnie Boyce and a current player who I think is at Lazio at the moment is Ravel Morrison.

                  Neil WAGNER?
NZ national team, cricketing all-rounder, but primarily a bowler?

In the 70s there’d have been a lot of ‘It’s a game of two halves, (Havergal) Brian.’

                        Henning Berg,Swedish former footballer.

There are some Czech footballers named Dvorak around (Pavel,Lucas, probably a few others over the years).
Tomas Dvorak was world decathlon champion a few times.

The 1950s Russian centre-half Dimitri Vladimirovich Kykabolokov, left an unfinished piano trio - I don't know if that qualifies him as a composer, though.

Terry Dyson famously played football for Spurs and less famously H Ferneyhough played cricket for Harrow School in 2018
