Sounds like he must have come from south London - people around here have ways of saying the funniest things with the straightest of faces, so that one doesn't know if they are supposed to be taken seriously! It's the ultimate in not laughing at one's own jokes!

He'll be feeling Hunky Dory this morning, I imagine, L.

Went and got myself one of these:

To use instead of a footstool, which had been a) causing me some not inconsiderable knee-ache in my left leg and b) causing my left foot/leg to go numb while practising, sometimes even before 30 minutes of practising. It's an Ergoplay Tappert guitar support.

Hmm. Not exactly HIPP. (Coat off hook.)

See violins and chin rests, though the homophone also has its place.

Footstool or guitar rest, at the end of the day it's still Bach or Scarlatti on a guitar.

Unable to sleep because of the heat (it's currently 17.3 C here) I tuned in to Through The Night just as a fine performance of Beethoven's Septet was about to commence. This led me to think of other reasons for remaining cheerful midst the encircling gloom.
                        1. My oleanders, having survived their first winter, unprotected, outdoors, are promising to put on a splendid display this year.
                        2. Our local Tesco is selling St Austell Proper Job at £1.49 a bottle and now also stocks Adnams's 'Ghost Ship' at £1.70 a bottle.
                        3. There are now 18 books lined up on my 'to read' shelf, which should help get me through the Olympics.
                        4. My Times Crossword Completion Rate has increased by 1.87 percentage points during the pandemic.
                        5. I've lost weight during the pandemic.
                        6. SpecSavers tell me I don't need new glasses.
                        7. BBC4 are to broadcast an all-Mozart Prom.
                        8. I've discovered the delights of herbal tea.
                        9. Anne Robinson has - so far - reined herself in her new role as 'Countdown' host.
                        10. It looks as thought our coach trip to Scotland is going ahead.
                        Happy days!

Do you have to screw those rests into the guitar, or is there another less invasive way?

Less invasive - suction cups. Two at the top, one at the bottom - unfortunately the one at the bottom has a tendency to become unstuck but it doesn't really matter much since the weight of the guitar at one end and my leg the other means it's not generally noticeable. There are other guitar supports however that also have two at the bottom which presumably rectifies this.

I am pleased to say that the guitar support has done exactly what I wanted it to do and I feel very comfortable playing.

Very hip then (reading Bryn's pun my way!).
