Only just found this thread - a good idea, LMcD!
Reasons to be cheerful, eh? Well ...
1.) While out on a walk this afternoon I spotted some wallflowers coming into bloom.
2.) Petroc played Gerald Finzi's 'Romance' this morning.
3.) We've just watched some of Billy Joel's Shea Stadium concert on Sky Arts - a timely and welcome reminder that there IS another America....
4.) Tonight's episode of 'Staged' was particularly funny.
5.) I completed a London 'Times' cryptic crossword in just over 20 minutes - not a record, but still pleasing.
Not a bad haul for one day!Last edited by Leinster Lass; 12-01-21, 23:33.

1. I managed to walk to the shops and back without slipping. falling, fainting or otherwise making a fool of myself in public. Sometimes I actually forget that I have to take my pills morning AND evening - such a bind!
2. Neither of the wheels on my shopping trolley came off despite its being full right to the top on the return journey.
3. Most people are definitely more friendly, polite and considerate than in pre-Covid times.
4. There's definitely some warmth in the sun's rays despite its low altitude - hardly a cloud in sight.
5. I've just discovered the excellent 2006 BBC TV adaptation of Jane Eyre - watched Episode 1 last night.
6. I'm not a Liverpool fan.
7. There were lots of price-cut bargains, but no queues, in the supermarket.
'Joy is all around you - all you need to do is look'. Never were those words of Saint Petronius The Elder truer than now!

Update;
8. Fort William didn't get thrashed on Saturday. True, they didn't actually play, but we must all follow the Saint's advice.
9. I got a 9-letter word during 'Countdown' this afternoon AND the conundrum (which neither of the contestants did).
No wonder I'm such a happy soul!
Time to dive into my Big Book Of Times Cryptic Crosswords. Still trying to beat Morse's 11 minutes.

It may have been mentioned previously, but I have been enjoying the news of the renamed Scottish Gritter lorries which, it would appear, people follow around the world. Vehicles such as 'Gritty Gritty Bang Bang', 'Salt Disney', 'Skid Vicious' are working the trunk roads of Scotland through the worst bit of winter weather in a good while. Apparently 'Licensed to Chill' is working the roads of East Lothian and 'Sled Zeppelin' can be found in Argyll. Seems you can suggest names for those as yet moniker-free. I quite like the one they've named 'Gritter Thunberg'.Last edited by johncorrigan; 14-02-21, 13:14.
