As Sir Geoffrey was repeating his point again and again and zzzz ... yesterday, I was reminded that he was complaining the other day that he'd only captained England four times ... "Only four times, mind" .... Can you imagine Geoffrey having to deal with yesterday's situation had he been captain?

Yorkshire cricket is a bit like that... and it's nurture not nature, as Vaughan is a Lancastrian, one of the first taken on as a junior when they allowed "bliddy furriner's" to join.

Bresnan 2 for 2 - yet not the most remarkable English bowling performance of this game.

              Wow.

..that is it, England win by a huge number of runs, collapse of Indian side really, but stunning performances from all round the England side in the B dept - Broad hat trick Bell 159 Bresnan 90 and fivefor ...

Huge turnaround, England were 124-8 on the first day then later India were 4 down with a lead of about 40 in their first innings.

Could this really be the year when England is actually recognised as being right at the top in a major sport? Just one more victory will seal it.

60-3 after just over an hour's play...not too shabby a start by England, especially considering who the last wicket taken belonged too.

                        England on top again 75-4!!

Dravid being out is the biggest blow to India. I wonder if he the best Indian batsman IN ENGLAND of all time, better than Gavaskar and Tendulkar. I saw India v Hampshire in 2002 when the Rose Bowl pitch was deadly. Only Dravid looked reasonably comfortable. Hampshire were docked points for the next game when a young Jimmy Anderson rattled through the Hampshire lineup.

111-7 just about exactly 90 mins after b.dog's post...
As usual Geoff B is blaming the tail for being poor rather than how good the England bowling is, and, of course, that F S Truman would have had them out ages ago.

Hey ho, still an enjoyable TMS in the context of escapism.

There's nothing wrong with this thread; if FF wants to "marshal her forces", she ought to shut down Platform 3 completely. Until then, perhaps individual members should quit telling other people what to write and where to write it.

Foolishly anticipating the near future, I was wondering how long it is since England was last at the top of the test match rankings.
