When the Brexit dust begins to settle somewhat, there is going to be , or ought to be, a big discussion in our cities about how they run themselves, because the young/urban, ageing/rural and provincial split is very obvious, and growing.

I've deleted Anastasius's post, which garnered the responses I expect it intended, which I've also deleted as they quote it. May I respectfully suggest civility. There are other outlets available for people's feelings.

Why do politicians and commentators insist on using the “sea change “ metaphor from The Tempest to mean big and sudden change when it really means a slow , almost imperceptible change “into something rich and strange “ ?

Rather like using aftermath to mean the ruin and desolation following war, for example, when it should mean the hopeful signs of regrowth.

I had always been led to assume it was those of my generation (the baby boomers) that were being targetted and touted as the main Brexit support base. However, my first feeling it would go the way it did yesterday came last week, on one of the TV studio audience-propped debate between candidates - can't remember which channel, it was in Leeds - when younger people present supported Johnson and personally attacked Corbyn, with few or none coming to his defense. I'm left wondering if the "youth vote" Labour saw as crucial failed to materialise.

Well, 14 million votes for the Tories - The Sun average daily circulation is 1.26million. (Average daily circulation of combined Sun, Mail, Times, Star, Express, & FT, around 4million). None of which takes online editions into account.
