    Striking headline - climate change

I have been doing a clearout, which often causes old fragments of newspapers to rise to the surface. One from headline from a Guardian issue sometime roughly in the last decade struck me - with a picture of the Houses of Parliament and a comment that the CO2 emissions from this building were greater than that of the whole of Kenya. Even allowing for the fact the Kenya has around 2/3 the population of the UK this is pretty damning.

I’ll wait for the comments re “hot air”!

The UK emits 30 times more CO2 than Kenya.
Appaling as that is doesn't that mean that the HoP emits over 3% of all the UK's CO2?

    United Kingdom 2014 419,820kt
    Kenya 2014 14,287kt

PS. The HoP emits 14kt (13,777 tonnes) according to this

Thanks. Note, I didn't say that the newspaper report was in any way accurate.

You saved me having to check.

It's still appaling to think that the UK produces 30 times that of Kenya. I worked with someone from Malawi and her family "back home" regarded Kenya as a rich country..

That might be an example of 'fake news'.

It's similar to the statistic that 20% of the population account for 80% of flights, where most people in some of the poorest countries never fly at all, but still are likely to be the hardest hit by global heating.
