"Rejoice Heartily Your Teacher Has Measles" was worth its weight in gold throughout my teaching career.

Is there a mnemonic for "mnemonic"?

I've not found one, or made one up yet, but I did find this:

"Never eat cake, eat salmon sandwiches and remain young" which is similar in intent to the backing track one.

I've been trying to think of one - the best I can do at the moment is

My Neighbour Elsie Must Only [Nibble] In Cars.

          It's a work-in-progress.

(For "necessary", I was taught the "one Collar, two Sleeves" hint.)

Am I the only one completely baffled by this thread?

              I "just" learned them!

              What about one for "gnome"?

How about these two: "Happy Henry Likes Beer But Could Not Obtain Four Nuts" and "Naughty Magpies Always Sing Perfect Songs Clawing Ants" which might actually be useful for University Challenge.

S_A: You need to keep trying!

Yes, I only know 'gave battle'. One I heard for the first time only recently is 'Naughty Elephants Spray Water' for points of the compass. Why on Earth would anyone need a mnemonic for 4 letters?

                              On an old 'Pointless' today:

                              From a 31-year-old 'transport economist':

                              Q. What national holiday was proclaimed by Abraham Lincoln?
                              A. Movember?

                              Q. Who was the only British PM to be assassinated?
                              A. Alec Douglas-Home?
