    Perhaps:

    c) People in general, in the world.
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

When did you last use a dog to herd sheep, or fetch a bird which you'd shot? Or even train a cat - if that's possible, to kill birds and bring them back as food?

Dogs are useful for some disabled people, and certainly can be trained to be helpful.

Cats - and also some snakes - are useful in some parts of the world for catching rats and mice. Helpful in some farming areas.

Want to be critical of new tech? Here's an interesting article:

She was a star engineer who warned that messy AI can spread racism. Google brought her in. Then it forced her out. Can Big Tech take criticism from within?

Good things about summer (wrong thread I know): warm, dry, festivals

Grumbles about summer: too hot, too dry, exhausting, flies, wasps, men (and women) showing too much flesh... (I could go on)

During hot weather I have no objection to women showing too much flesh, so long as it is not TOO much flesh!

For me that depends on where people hang out!

My nose has been blocked up to varying degrees all day. Unsure if it's: a) a cold b) hay fever (which I've heard and to some extent experienced is particularly bad this year) or either of these exacerbated by dusting yesterday.

A moth with teeth is a scary thought.

What might Harri B have thought about that?

Dusting plays havoc with my nose, giving an unpleasant burning smell on top of the blockage. I usually wear one of my covid masks when dusting but even they don't eliminate it altogether.

                                Absolutely.

When accompanied by other attempted cosmetic “improvements”, the word ‘grotesque’ doesn’t begin to cover it…

"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
                                Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."
