You can get it in most supermarkets, Wilko and B&Q. Trust me, this stuff works!
    Thank you, Petrushka.

thanks. I tried mothballs last time, but it seems like I just didn't get enough, or something.

Modern mothballs don't(or shouldn't) contain the same ingredients as old-fashioned ones - naphthalene(the smelly bit) and something else( a benzene compound) were banned, so that might have had a part to play?

The ants started their activities in the garden some weeks ago but the cold has inhibited their proliferation. The rain pushing plants into growth may get them going to benefit from aphids.

Several purchases from amazon marketplace sellers, all of which have yet to arrive, one of which is now running quite late and most the rest have changed the expected arrival date further into the future.

Wonder if anyone else has been experiencing similar issues?

Quite the reverse, actually. For example, a CD from ClicMusique in France, arrived this morning, a week before the estimated arrival date!

... at the moment, no. A few months ago there were quite substantial delays from various sellers, but I think that was the effect of various postal back-logs. No problems at the moment, and I've been getting a fair amount of deliveries, swiftly and efficiently, from amazon sellers based both in the UK and overseas

Well, a Prime order I placed with amazon.co.uk for a triple CD set on 19th April has only today been dispatched by amazon.EU and is scheduled for delivery on Thursday. The tracking so far fails to say where it has been dispatched from. There again, at £9.25 (including p&p) it did cast less than half the current lowest asking price on amazon.co.uk.

One particular order from a marketplace seller ( for Mackerras’ Ma Vlast) I had was accepted then I heard nothing, then Amazon contacted showing their concern that it had not been dispatched then Amazon contacted to say that I would be refunded. Orders direct from Amazon have been excellent though I’m not prime and used their standard delivery. As for the Ma Vlast I ordered a used copy direct from Magpie at a lower price which I received within a couple of days and it is fine. Having had mixed experiences with mp sellers over the years I have become selective about which marketplace sellers I use.

The item mentioned was indeed delivered today. Since its content was something I already had on the previously issued separate CDs, I was in no great hurry. I refer to the Artur Schoonderwoerd/Cristofori Beethoven "Complete Fortepiano Concertos by Beethoven (though there is no performing version of WoO. 4 in the survey). I was prompted to order due to the price, £9.95 including p&p! I was pleasantly surprised to find the programme notes for the concertos were all there, though they work backwards through the history of the concertos. What is not included is the original artwork with descriptions of the paintings illustrated.

Sorry, the price has more than doubled in the interim. (Love the "intimist" in the 'English' on the back of the box, such a rare term to encounter, these days.)

                          .

... Bryn - given that you already had the individual Schoonderwoerd discs (complete with their wonderful cover illustrations... ) I am a bit mystified as to why you shd wish to clutter yourself with a duplicate (even as cheap as it is)

Two reasons. I was intrigued to see what they had done re. the booklet contents and I intend to 'spread the word' by gifting the boxed set, as and when, to someone who might appreciate the recordings as much as I do.

Well, I've either received a refund or the item has arrived regarding the online purchases but: the ants are still about.
