I might be if the source of the insult was other than it was. Emanating from where it did, I (half ) hope more of the American public will wake up as to what a band of unpleasant nincompoops THEY'VE put in charge of running THEIR country. "Sticks and stones &c". MAGA? Condolences to all decent Americans.

It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

I gather that Greenland has come up with its own version of MAGA hats - Make America Go Away. Will likely be in evidence for Usha Vance's visit tomorrow?

I believe their itinerary has been cut back, but in any case let's hope they can usha her out before she says something she might live to regret.

Curious incident at a PayPoint yesterday. Anyone else had this?

Whe a new shop opened up next door I thought, oh good, I can pay my bills there without walking into town* each time.

She says 'is it cash or card? ' ''Card' I said.

Then the puzzle line: 'You can pay card this time but next time , cash'.

I said I didn't understand why . She said 'company policy'. As there were others waiting ,it was time to shrug one's shoulders and give in. So I paid by card, but how wilthey know when it's 'next time'? I go in there only about twice a year to pay a bill, as their prices don't compete with ALDI a short walk away.

            -------------------------------------------------------------

            * the town centre was largely demolished to build a spanking new shopping mall, but it seems spanking new shopping malls are not wanted just now, so the town centre is a bit like Warsaw in 1945 (or perahps 1946) . Fortunately my bank is still there in the un'blitzed part.

Apparently PayPoint is a cash only payment facility, although I use the one at my newsagent to pay my TV licence by debit card. I see that on the renewal letter it say that it can be credit or debit card at a PayPoint store although the TV Licensing website says only debit card, which makes sense to me as debit cards count as cash, coming direct from a bank account. Certainly I was told by the shop that it had to be debit, not credit, card. That may be an arrangement with PO from when they withdrew payment at their counters but I don't know.

A grumble about Radio 4, for a change! The early morning schedule has been 'refreshed'. The 0530 News Briefing has been scrapped, and we now have 30 minutes of Yesterday In Parliament between 0504 and 0534, followed by a retimed Shipping Forecast and Prayer For The Day. Keen followers of goings-on at Westminster can still enjoy their regular fix during the Today programme. I don't know what we shall be offered at 0504 when Parliament isn't sitting.

Well, call me excitable and easily offended, but I’m sorry, I’ve just crossed off the exquisitely delightful Ms Marjorie Taylor Greene off my Xmas card list.

Did she usually send you a card? Prepare to be insulted if you've upset her!
