    Mug leaks

One of our favourite mugs seems to have sprung a hairline leak. Not at all visible once the mug has passed through the dishwasher, but leaks liquid slowly which then stains it - and - more to the point - is inconvenient.

I read elsewhere that some form of superglue can be used to seal the crack, together with claims that the said glue is not going to present any toxicity problems. Maybe the most sensible thing is to take that one out of use, other than for storing trinkets or pencils etc., but it is a bit of a shame.

Presumably the manufacturers who sell these in boxes of 4, and then stop selling them after a few years know a thing or two about how to keep their businesses afloat.

      .

... never understood the point of mugs. Where do you put the spoon? - you need a saucer. Therefore - cup'n'saucer is what you need.

      Down with mugs, I say...

Have you checked the manufacturer's warranty and whether it's invalidated if it's subjected to the dishwasher/microwave?

Won't be its fault if it's sprung a leak and the user failed to read the small print!

Saucers are for cats - you are supposed to fill them with milk, put them on the kitchen floor, fall over them & break them. And the cat gets mighty pissed off.

I have tried supergluing various favourite plates back together, but the stuff never withstands more than a few dish washes. With mugs it's always the handles that come off: I love trying to reinstate the handle so as to leave no visible evidence of the cracks, thus achieving the best possible bond, but it never works for long.

Superglue is amazing stuff: you can use it to stick a climate protester to a bank; most tof the warts on my hand aren't in fact warts but superglue splashes that have never come off: great for when you have a facial itch.

It’s cracked - probably harbouring germs - ditch it, or if it is a thing of great beauty just use it ornamentally, rather than for supping your cocoa!

This header would make a good headline for the actions of the former Defence Secretary!
