I hope someone can persuade her to take a holiday every once in a while. I worry she is not having enough fun...that is not a criticism, just an experienced mum talking.

A plus and a minus of her condition, I imagine. I hope it gives her the strength to shrug off these attacks/insults more easily.
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

It will be a hard journey for anyone, at this particular moment the North Atlantic Drift being unusually strong for August, with a train of deepening low pressures strung out right across to America with no end in sight.

About 300 miles to go. Rough weather off Nova Scotia. Expecting to arrive New York Wednesday. Preparing to Wrap the Green Flag Round Me.

Thanks for this info, Padraig: the journey seems to have been neglected in the news media. Yes, nasty little depression off the NS coast. If they skirt round that to the south, there's a nice little ridge of high pressure off the Yew York coastline awaiting, which should ensure relatively gentle currents to float them in to harbo[u]r.
