Well that's a shame! Maybe some other time. The argument I would use about any amelioration in Britain making up a miniscule contribution to overall betterment is that someone, somewhere, has to set an example and make a start - with campaigning up from the grass roots to get the word over on international stages where governments can be pressured to press for agreements: that old Green slogan encapsulated in "think global, act local".
We watched a mildly amusing George Clooney film called 'Up In The Sky' last night, in which the corporation for which his character worked was encouraged to do precisely this by adopting the slogan 'glocal'.

That was wonderful wasn't it? Especially someone called "Amelia", a young person passionately committed to Extinction Rebellion - I felt like cheering after hearing her defiant outburst...

I think you can try to make your own local effort... like leaving the garden wild for Hogs, Butterflies, Bees, Birds etc etc...feeding them all.... I even saw an Orange Tip today, first for many years...very flightily on the wing with a Small Blue and a Peacock...

If that formed in a middle class-dominated district like this, it would probably be a serviette union...

This article was written at the time of the first UK school student climate strikes. In February and March 2019, UK school students, in huge numbers, took their place in a global movement. The strikes were inspired by the actions… Continue Reading →

What’s needed if course, is for politicians to act now. Forget about their differences and the lining of their pockets. They live on this planet too.

Indeed - and this is a point a number of us have been making lately. As compared to earlier situations, in which the rich could treat others as expendable when their usefulness to themselves was not immediate, and hive themselves off into safe enclaves, ie Knightsbridge property or Caymans tax havens, they too (the rich) will be at the mercy of global warming. I'm not sure if the Cayman Islands won't be overcome by rising sea levels. Or am I naïve, and the Cayman Islands just a useful figment of someone's overpaid imagination for tax purposes?

Sickening. I just don't understand how people can be so wilfully stupid and cruddish as to swallow such filth. I wouldn't even use it as toilet paper.
