Have I missed something or is she starting her return journey? Crossing the Atlantic East to West is relatively easy if you take the southern route (e.g. Canaries to Caribbean). The old saw states "Start from Falmouth and sail south until the butter melts, then turn to starboard". You get the Trade Winds that way. Crossing West to East is altogether more tricky as you don't know what the Atlantic weather systems have up their sleeve. However, with modern communications, it's usual to download GRIB files which give you up-to-the-minute forecasts, and you can change course to avoid the nasty lows. Up to a point.
