Scary to realize that 'Sgt Pepper' was released FIFTY-TWO years ago, isn't it?
I also really like some of the earlier, apparently simple songs - 'There's A Place', for example.

I’m afraid I can’t join in the praise for Revolver. No album that includes the kiddies’ ditty Yelllow Submarine can be considered flawless. In fact, no album that features Richard Starkey’s appalling, unmelodious vocals could be considered flawless, which means ALL Beatles albums are fundamentally flawed (with the exception of Let It Be, but that’s flawed in different ways). Comedian Bill Hicks once cited the prevalence of Ringo vocals on the albums as proof of how stoned the Beatles were in the sixties (‘so stoned they thought letting that guy sing was a good idea.’)
I’ve always preferred Rubber Soul, myself. More consistent songwriting as well as arguably my favourite Fabs’ song (I’ll let you guess which one it is).
As for the White Album....well, it was meant to be spontaneous and messy as a reaction to the honed, calculated approach of Sergeant Pepper and I think it all works (including Revolution 9, which I’ve never felt inclined ot skip since I first heard the album at the age of 14). The one really disposable track is the first Honey Pie, which would have been on the cutting room floor but for the fact that Pattie Harrison ‘liked it’.
