Makes a great CDR for the car with Rubber Soul and a couple of singles!

The total running time is just over 35 minutes, and the longest track lasts exactly 3 minutes - but, hey, never mind the length, marvel at the quality!

A joy to have found something we can agree on.

'A Beatles album is a joy for ever' (well, in most cases...)

I was never totally convinced by Revolution 9 on the White Album.

For me, the quality of the tracks on the White Album is pretty variable.
Scary to realize that 'Sgt Pepper' was released FIFTY-TWO years ago, isn't it?
I also really like some of the earlier, apparently simple songs - 'There's A Place', for example.

Almost 52, LMcD. Next year will be the 50th Anniversary of Yoko Ono breaking up the group!

I've just checked on the price of my ticket to 'The Beatles Show' at the Southampton Gaumont (now the Mayflower) in December 1963 - 8/6d (That's 42.5 p for for younger viewers).

I’m afraid I can’t join in the praise for Revolver. No album that includes the kiddies’ ditty Yelllow Submarine can be considered flawless. In fact, no album that features Richard Starkey’s appalling, unmelodious vocals could be considered flawless, which means ALL Beatles albums are fundamentally flawed (with the exception of Let It Be, but that’s flawed in different ways). Comedian Bill Hicks once cited the prevalence of Ringo vocals on the albums as proof of how stoned the Beatles were in the sixties (‘so stoned they thought letting that guy sing was a good idea.’)

I’ve always preferred Rubber Soul, myself. More consistent songwriting as well as arguably my favourite Fabs’ song (I’ll let you guess which one it is).

As for the White Album....well, it was meant to be spontaneous and messy as a reaction to the honed, calculated approach of Sergeant Pepper and I think it all works (including Revolution 9, which I’ve never felt inclined ot skip since I first heard the album at the age of 14). The one really disposable track is the first Honey Pie, which would have been on the cutting room floor but for the fact that Pattie Harrison ‘liked it’.

If not in a yellow submarine, where on earth do you hang out?
