    Lord Harewood RIP

He worked tirelessly in the cause of classical music and in particular opera. An extraordinary life for one born into the British Royal Family.

A very rich and varied life, and as you say verismissimo, an extraordinary life for one in the Royal Family. I read somewhere that the Queen said of him, referring to his passion for music in general & opera in particular, "the funny thing about George is that for the most part he's actually quite normal"

I heard the news of Lord Harewood's death on the World Service in the night, but began to think I'd imagined it as there was nothing on R4 at 7am or on R3 until Rob Cowan mentioned it.

He rose above his Royal Status [joke] and worked hard for opera in several positions. RIP

A life wonderfully lived. The Tel obit mentions his neat mantra: "Remember that everything matters — but nothing matters as much as all that. You can rise above most things."
