        [...]
O let not Time deceive you,
        You cannot conquer Time.

In the burrows of the Nightmare
        Where Justice naked is,
        Time watches from the shadow
And coughs when you would kiss.

        - W H Auden

Yes, but is it circular or more like a helix?

Most annoying advert - for that make of Swiss watch that you don't own, but merely look after for the next generaltion.

A bit precious maybe but having invested £xk, it seems natural to want to pass it on to the next generation. For some this strongly appeals - an enduring investment in a beautifully made object that can easily last 100 years plus.

My cousin went to Hong Kong for a holiday. Brought back a Rolex watch for herself, but all I got was a rotten Gucci T-shirt.
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

But the T-shirt will last longer than a Hong Kong Rolex

I don't know what happened to the Hong Kong Rolex, but the T-shirt didn't last long. I never wore it in public.
