Have just been told that all seven voted to go to war in Iraq...and have consistently voted for military involvement since then.

Oh, come on, Gongers: he said they collected it on the way back and felt bad if they found someone had already removed it. You pick it up: but if you're just out for a walk with the dog and have nothing to carry it in, it's surely understandable to leave it somewhere where you will find it again on your return? But just in case you're passing by up in Nessieland, I'd recommend that in future they hide it somewhere where they can easily find it again! [PS I don't have a dog. And I shoot local cats ]

On a common close by this hanging from trees seems to have become a problem in recent years. It's stupid really, as there's a lot of space and it would be quite easy to pick up the offending material and move it under bushes or into long grass where it would degrade naturally in a few weeks.

I also find myself having some sympathy with Len McCluskey's views re. another claimed reason for the quitters quitting.

What about children playing under bushes, and in the long grass, or me taking a short cut! At least you can see it on the pavement...

Indeed! For the basic story, in simple language, see http://www.doodycalls.com/resources-toxic-dog-waste/

Could still be hyped up. Also the environment in the USA is different - different temperatures etc. I don't really know if dog poop is such a problem in wide open spaces - and I wasn't suggesting knocking it into areas where anyone would be likely to walk or crawl or play.

The simplest solution is to ban dogs, but my guess is that wouldn't be popular. I don't mean ban them from those areas, I mean ban - full-stop!

??? You mean just keep a few in zoos? How about banning cats, too ?

I know - I'm being unreasonable and biased.
Very happy to ban cats - they wreak havoc with birds if let out, but then one could ban birds too .... ad inifinitum ....

Most people don't understand how bad cats can be - but in urban areas perhaps it doesn't matter too much.

If we're banning species on the grounds of how much damage they do, then we've got to start with the species that created "urban areas" in the first place.

                            "Useless" not "dangerous", ferney.

It doesn't matter to people if they aren't plagued by close neighbours' (numerous) cats, all looking for toilets outside their own gardens

But that problem would be removed with my solution.
