Many thanks to you all, again. I shall definitely also consider Jessie's fund.

Pulcinella...if I'd been asked that question my reply would have been an automatic 'Nothing, now'. The cheek.

Be aware that the Jessie’s Fund client group is not the same as Young Minds’. The former is a very specific charity that doesn’t touch on the sort of adolescent mental health disorders caused by internet use that you say you would like to address in your original post. It’s a different spectrum (range of mental health diagnoses) entirely. This is an area that I do have some professional expertise in, btw.

Also, there’s an awful lot of competition for funds in this area at the moment, and growing all the time as charities compete for our attention.

What you’re proposing to do is a big commitment and I’d advise reading up as much as possible about the issues before parting with your hard earned cash. If it’s using music to help young people you’re interested in The British Association for Music Therapy would be a good place to start. There’s also a limited amount of UK based research on child internet safety under the auspices of the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport in the public domain that you can access.

I’d be inclined to start my own charity, but fear that the problems run too deep for me to make much of a difference. As far as young people's social media use goes, I'm right behind you on this, btw, Anastasius, and tend to believe that radical changes in the design of the web such as those mooted by Tim Berners-Lee recently (a decentralised, use-powered web) will be needed before we see any improvements.
And the tune ends too soon for us all

So off to see the solicitor tomorrow to make the will and delighted to say that there will be a percentage going to Jessies Fund when I pop my clogs.
