For a short while it seems. A Faure Symphony might have been very pleasant - ah well the things that might have been.

I'm sure A Certain English Composer whose first name is Colin could be found who would be prepared to do an orchestrated version of one of those highly symphonic in nature (imv) chamber works.

          Tom Service

Tom Service, just slow down, for goodness sake!

I caught the last few minutes of Music Matters today (just in time to switch off my radio to avoid Jess Gillam). It sounded like the commentary on the finish of the 3:15 from Newmarket!

Complete avoidance of both the individuals you mention is the only approach in this household.
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
            Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

I find it eternally interesting to learn about other people's preferences. They're only statements of fact as far as the Like/Dislike point is concerned. I hope they will indicate what they like or dislike (and I'll compare my views). As far as presenters are concerned, they are (in my view) only talking about personas - the person as presenting themselves naturally, but more often at least partly, knowingly, acting. I don't LIKE or DISLIKE any person.

If you go into a shop for 2lbs of sugar and you come out with 2lbs of sugar, it's not remarkable. But if you find they've wrapped up an old brick, you're furious.

But if it happened every week for a month, and if it got reported in the local press every week, every month, the fury might get replaced by.....a species of exasperated ennui....

And no one would go to that shop again.....

Well, no. I think I should get more and more furious and I'd go round to their house with a note saying, I do wish you would STOP DOING THAT. It's very annoying.

Well I guess if you've nothing better to do & are unaware of the Principle of Heads & Brick Walls.... think of all those symphonies you might have heard, and even written about, in the time it took for your trip to their neighbourhood....

I guess its time for one now....perhaps in my head, as I strike out for the woods...
                      happy listening everyone...!

A shame people turned off - it was an interesting if depressing debate with a distinguished line up and some well chosen clips. Whatever his delivery speed Tom chaired it well

It was just an analogy. I hear others saying that they found the programme interesting and the presenter did well. But I'd don't mind reading either opinion.
