Oh I always thought it meant a small, Bavarian female horse.

And the Fair Melusine herself seems to have been some kind of freshwater mermaid.
I keep hitting the Escape key, but I'm still here!

After this evening's concert relay of Mahler 7, the announcer told us that tomorrow's concert would be another symphony from the turn of the 20th century: Bruckner's 6th,

Where on earth do they dig up these ignorant and incompetent people?

But every schoolboy knows that the 6th is the one he didn't mess around with. The 1881 was it, done and dusted, even if it has three editors since.

To be impartial I suppose I should raise this detailed on Facebook ....

“Announcer blithering about the origin of his "Masques et Bergamasques". No doubt reading from a script, he blithely twittered about the material being "derived from Fauré's symphonies" ... er?

                  It was Skellers .......

How sure can we be that that is what Skellers said. "incidental" and "symphonies" might easily be misheard, one for the other.

No that is what he said - I, of course, heard it ......

By ‘eck Bryn that’s a bit of a broad statement - how many schoolboys today or even in our day, had even heard of Bruckner, let alone the intimate details of his number 6.

Don’t mess with anton, Bryn, he hangs on every word spoken by St Skellers.

You mean there’s no 1901 version?

Ah but - according to no less an authority than Wiki the Ouverture Of Masques et bergamasques (which he played) is from an abandoned 1869 symphony. Also a complete list of Faure’s opus numbers shows Op. 40 - Symphony in D Minor, 1884 - MS destroyed .....

                                A prolific symphonist then ........
