I’d be interested to hear how the Cure sounds - is it a new pressing? The opening of that album never fails to be immense, and the rest of it is pretty good too of course

Well yes, but then Redditch isn’t in the Thames Valley......

Incidentally, my pressie has a heart rate monitor.
It seems to work well, and I was very pleasantly surprised at a good reading on my run this morning.

But my reading during todays Southampton game.....oh dear !!

A Weird Fish coat - very snug, now that I've returned to the rather nippy north.

A few books, including one from my sister about growing old.

                  A hamper full of goodies.

                  A new Alpine Symphony CD.

Having seen the revival of The Ring at the NY Met in May, I couldn’t resist requesting blu rays of this earlier momento, even though the cast and the remarkable stage mechanism had improved significantly this year.

Which Alpine have you added to the stash, Alps?

Inter alia, the new Le Carre, which I’m reading with interest as it’s my first since the Smileys when I was a teenager, and the recent uncollected Nabokov essays. I bought myself The Subject of Experience by Galen Strawson, which I cannot recommend highly enough to anyone interested in the philosophy of mind, or philosophy at all for that matter. He takes in references from such a broad range of reading that I find myself hunting down more books I’ve never heard of. How do people ever part with books to make space for new ones? But needs must.

Same problem with CDs! They should be sold with shelf space and the time to play/read them!

Yes do tell. I’ll see if you’ve commented on BRSO/Jansons after I’ve listened to my new CD.

I was thinking of buying that after adding his Heldenleben/Don Juan and Rosenkavalier Suite/Till/4 Last Songs.
